| History
of the Strategic Acquisitions and Intellectual Property (SAIP)
Program
Early
2003 the Purchasing Commission, which was government’s
central procurement organization, was dissolved with the services
and policy and compliance components split into two different
organizations.
The policy
and compliance responsibilities for procurement were moved
into the Procurement
Governance Office which resides in the Office of the Comptroller,
Ministry of Finance. The services arm was incorporated into
the Common Business Services (CBS) Division within government's
B.C. Shared Services (Shared
Services BC).
As SAIP
is now part of government's Shared Services organization,
SAIP is required to recover its costs of operations from its
clients.
